Talent Acquisition & Retention Specialist

Saica Pack US- Hamilton is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Talent Acquisition & Retention Specialist to support full-cycle recruiting and workforce retention initiatives within a fast-paced corrugated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for attracting, hiring, onboarding, and retaining hourly and salaried talent across manufacturing, maintenance, warehouse, shipping, and staff functions.


The Recruiter serves as a key partner to plant leadership by ensuring staffing levels support operational goals while maintaining a positive employee experience from hire through separation. This position plays an active role in employee engagement, retention efforts, onboarding, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Reporting directly to the People Manager, essential duties & responsibilities are as follows:


Full Cycle Recruiting


  • Manage full-cycle recruiting processes for hourly and salaried positions
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and workforce priorities
  • Create and post job advertisements across recruiting platforms
  • Source candidates through job boards, referrals, networking, career fairs, and community outreach
  • Screen resumes and conduct phone interviews
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews with plant leadership
  • Prepare offer letters and assist with compensation discussions
  • Maintain recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, turnover, and candidate pipeline activity
  • Develop proactive recruiting strategies for hard-to-fill manufacturing roles


Onboarding & New Hire Integration


  • Coordinate pre-employment processes including background checks, drug screenings, and onboarding documentation
  • Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding programs
  • Ensure employees receive proper safety training, policies, PPE, and plant introductions
  • Partner with operations leadership to support successful new hire integration
  • Perform weekly new hire check-ins during the onboarding period
  • Monitor early turnover trends and identify improvement opportunities


Employee Retention & Engagement


  • Conduct stay interviews with employees to identify engagement concerns and retention opportunities
  • Partner with managers to address employee morale, attendance, communication, and development concerns
  • Support employee recognition and retention initiatives
  • Conduct routine floor presence and employee follow-up discussions
  • Assist with employee relations matters and coaching conversations as needed
  • Exit Interview & Turnover Analysis
  • Conduct exit interviews and identify turnover trends
  • Prepare turnover summaries and workforce reports for management
  • Recommend retention strategies based on employee feedback and operational needs
  • Track and analyze turnover metrics by department, shift, manager, and tenure


HR & Administrative Support


  • Maintain recruiting and employee files in HR systems
  • Assist with workforce planning, staffing projections, and organizational changes
  • Participate in HR projects, audits, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Support plant culture initiatives aligned with Saica values and operational excellence




Minimum requirements

Qualifications

3+ years of recruiting or HR experience preferred, ideally within manufacturing or industrial environments

Experience recruiting for hourly manufacturing positions strongly preferred

Knowledge of recruiting practices, onboarding, and employee engagement strategies

Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced plant environment with shifting priorities

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/ATS systems

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
